Job summary

American Heritage Companies seeks an experienced Roadmaster to lead the Maintenance of Way team in Durango, CO. You will oversee track maintenance, inspections, and capital projects to ensure safe passenger excursions and regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, 5+ years in railroad maintenance with 2–3 years in a supervisory role, and collaboration with Operations, Mechanical, and Engineering to support performance and guest experience.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership required to drive Safe Production and teamwork.
• 5+ years of progressive railroad track maintenance experience; 2–3 years in supervision.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with multiple departments.
• Proven ability to plan, lead, and implement large capital projects.
• Proficient computer skills to manage schedules, budgets, and labor costs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise track maintenance crews across inspection, repair, and renewal of track and related infrastructure.
• Perform regular track inspections (walking, hi-rail, visual) per Track Safety Standards.
• Develop maintenance plans, schedules, and capital projects for safe year-round operations.
• Ensure compliance with track standards and safety protocols; prepare inspection reports.
• Manage on-track safety for crews and coordinate with train operations.
• Oversee material procurement, equipment use, and budget for track activities.
• Respond to derailments, weather events, and other incidents affecting track integrity; be on-call.
• Foster a safety culture with trainings, audits and teamwork.
