Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Simsbury, CT seeks an experienced RF test technician to perform measurements and calibrations for product testing. You will tune components, troubleshoot at the module level, and drive issues to resolution with minimal supervision.

The role requires 5–7 years in electronic testing, strong microscope work, fine motor skills, and the ability to work both independently and in teams. Soldering of SMD parts is part of the duties, with a focus on accuracy and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electronic or product testing.
• Ability to work under a microscope.
• Fine motor skills / hand eye coordination.
• Basic PC skills, math skills, and product knowledge.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Must possess or be able to obtain (at company’s expense) a Secret level clearance.
• Preferred: Associates degree in technical field.
• Experience performing RF test and measurement using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Previous experience serving as a lead technician.

Responsibilities

• Perform RF measurements (e.g., S-parameters, insertion loss, return loss, frequency response) and ensure data validity through proper calibration/verification.
• Tune/adjust products to meet performance specifications and document settings/results.
• Troubleshoot hardware/product failures at the component/module level; isolate root cause and recommend/implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot test equipment and test setup issues and drive problems to resolution with minimal supervision.
• Basic soldering of surface mount components
• Strong commitment to teamwork, quality, continuous improvement and process discipline.
