Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Cashier/Stocker to perform front-end operations, stock merchandise, and help manage store tasks in the absence of store leadership. Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise; rotate and face items on shelves.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise and answering questions.
• Operate cash register and bag merchandise; collect payment and make change.
• Maintain store cleanliness including front end, restrooms, and stockroom.
• Open/close store under direction of area manager and ensure security procedures.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and upkeep.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Six months supervisory experience
