Job summary

Salient Motion is seeking a technically authoritative Responsible Engineer to be the single accountable engineering voice for precision motion control products. You will own the technical integrity from design release through certification, signing off on drawings, approving deviations, and standing behind every engineering decision with your name on it.

The role requires 8+ years in aerospace/defense or high-reliability industrial hardware, deep experience with electromechanical design, GD&T

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 8+ years engineering experience in aerospace/defense or high-reliability industrial hardware
• Expert-level understanding of electromechanical product design including actuators, precision mechanisms, and avionics enclosures
• GD&T mastery with ability to author/review complex drawings and specs
• Experience with aerospace/defense hardware qualification, DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 processes

Responsibilities

• Serve as Responsible Engineer for assigned products and assemblies, signing off on drawings and certifications
• Own technical baseline of hardware, approve design changes, and maintain configuration integrity
• Review and approve engineering drawings, BOMs, and specs to ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
• Dispositions non-conformances, deviations, and waivers with technical rigor
• Provide oversight for qualification/acceptance test plans and DO-160/MIL-STD-810 results
• Interface with FAA, DERs, and customers for certification support
• Lead engineering change boards (ECBs) and assess impact of changes
• Provide guidance to design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
• Collaborate with Technical Program Manager to plan milestones
