Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Florida is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to administer and coordinate prescribed therapies and monitor patients in a high-acuity setting.

The role requires ICU experience, ABG drawing/analysis, and competencies in EKG and ventilator management. Join a team dedicated to compassionate, advanced patient care and education for staff development.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a two-year accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Florida license as Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • BLS certification.
  • 1-2 years ICU/ABG drawing/analysis experience.
  • Ability to perform 12-lead EKG and monitor patients.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and coordinates prescribed therapy.
  • Assists with ventilator management and patient transport.
  • Completes documentation in EMR accurately.
  • Provides 1:1 sitter care as needed.

We welcome all healthcare professionals to join our thriving community and contribute to our pursuit for clinical excellence.Department:Job Description Summary:Sign On Bonus: Up to $25KFull Time, Part Time and Per Diem opportunities!Position ResponsibilitiesAdministers & coordinates medical prescribed therapy as assigned.Prioritizes patient therapy according to patient acuity on a daily basis.Accountable for administration, observation, charting and reporting effects of drugs, oxygen respiratory treatments and other theraputic and diagnostic measures.Completes assignments on a timely basis while adapting to changing workloads when required.Maintains standard shift productivity.Demostrates knowledge of indications, contraindications, hazards and troubleshooting of all treatments as assigned.Demonstrates effective and efficient care through clinical competencies at least annually.Demonstrates competency in drawing and/or running arterial blood gases at least annually.Completes all forms in electronic medical record and departmental records accurately and legibly according to hospital/departmental policy and procedure.Communicates pertinent information at shift report.Participates in critical care training of new employeesMonitors ventilation patients according to departmental standards.Demonstrates ability to teach and educate patient and family according to departmental policies and procedures.Uses supplies, equipment and resources in a cost effective manner.Is competent and can perform Bronchoscopies as assigned at bedside and GI suiteIs competent and can perform all duties related to the care of patients in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit.Is competent and can perform all functions when assigned to duties and responsibilities related to charge. Covering as departmental supervisor in absence of supervisor.Assures we have adequate Ventilators/Bipaps /HighFlows equipment during shift and for incoming shift.Assess staffing needs at Main Campus and satellite ER's when taking charge.Participates in the Safety Huddle Calls as needed.Provides direct assistance to patients and co-workers as assigned by the Clinical Manager.Demonstrates competency in performing 12 Lead EKG.Demonstates knowledge of crisis intervention, verbal de escalation and physical intervention (i.e. mental health, Baker Act, etc).Successfully completes CPI training and provides assistance with aggressive patients.Anticipates patients needs, provides customer service.Demonstrates competency in obtaining vital signs, identifying abnormal values and reporting findings.Provides 1:1 (sitter) care for patients as needed.Transports patients for tests, procedures, etc as needed.Assist with all patient care needs as assigned.QualificationsLicense/Registration/CertificationFlorida license for Registered Respiratory Therapist.
