Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide prescribed therapy and monitor patients in a fast-paced, multi-facility system in South Florida.

The role emphasizes acuity-based therapy decisions, accurate documentation, and collaboration across the care team. Candidates should have an FL license, BLS, and ICU/ABG experience with a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Graduate of a 2-year accredited Respiratory Care program.
• Active Florida license as Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• 1–2 years ICU/ABG experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers and coordinates prescribed respiratory therapy.
• Prioritizes patient therapy by acuity daily.
• Documents effects of treatments and patient responses.
• Manages monitoring of ventilated patients.
• Participates in critical care education and CPI training as needed.
• Assists with 12-lead EKG and arterial blood gas procedures.
• Collaborates with care teams and reports at shift changes.
• Provides 1:1 patient care and transports as needed.

Job Description Summary

• Administers & Coordinates medical prescribed therapy as assigned.
• Prioritizes Patient therapy according to patient acuity on a daily basis.
• Accountable for administration, observation, charting and reporting effects of drugs, oxygen respiratory treatments and other theraputic and diagnostic measures.
• Completes assignments on a timely basis while adapting to changing workloads when required.
• Maintains individual standard shift productivity.
• Demonstrates knowledge of indications, contraindications, hazards and troubleshooting of all treatments as assigned.
• Demonstrates effective and efficient care through clinical competencies at least annually.
• Demonstrates competency in drawing and/or running arterial blood gases at least annually.
• Completes all forms in electronic medical record and departmental records accurately and legibly according to hospital/departmental policy and procedure.
• Communicates pertinent information at shift report.
• Participates in critical care program as an educator as needed
• Monitors ventilation patients according to departmental standards.
• Demonstrates ability to teach and educate patient and family according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Uses supplies, equipment and resources in a cost effective manner.
• Assists Department in Respiratory Student rotations.
• All related duties as necessary
• Provides direct assistance to patients and co-workers as assigned by the Clinical Manager.
• Demonstrates competency in performing 12 Lead EKG.
• Demonstates knowledge of crisis intervention, verbal de escalation and physical intervention (i.e. mental health, Baker Act, etc).
• Successfully completes CPI training and provides assistance with aggressive patients.
• Anticipates patients needs, provides customer service.
• Demonstrates competency in obtaining vital signs, identifying abnormal values and reporting findings.
• Provides 1:1 (sitter) care for patients as needed.
• Transports patients for tests, procedures, etc as needed.
• Assist with all patient care needs as assigned.

Qualifications

• BLS Certification.
• Graduate of a two-year accredited program for Respiratory Care.
• Experience 1-2 years intensive care/ABG drawing/analysis
