Job description

Join to apply for the Lead Respiratory Therapist role at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Calculate and distribute daily shift assignments for staff and communicate assigned areas to nursing floors.
  2. Verify department assignment sheets are properly updated and saved for the upcoming shift.
  3. Ensure proper staffing and address shortages for upcoming shifts.
  4. Communicate supply shortages or equipment issues to relevant departments.
  5. Conduct patient assessments and interpret clinical data for quality care.
  6. Implement and evaluate respiratory care plans, including aerosol, secretion mobilization, and hyperinflation therapies.
  7. Provide care for patients requiring ventilator assistance and complex respiratory devices, maintaining emergency airway equipment.
  8. Perform diagnostic studies as per policy or physician orders, consulting with healthcare professionals and participating in patient rounds.
  9. Complete accurate patient documentation in compliance with standards.
  10. Participate in clinical research involving respiratory patients.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned for the benefit of Shirley Ryan Abilitylab.

Reporting Relationships: Reports directly to the Manager, Respiratory Care.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates Degree, NBRC RRT or CRT credential with experience, or equivalent. Valid Illinois State Licensure, BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications, and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory experience, neonatal/pediatric specialization, higher education degrees.

Working Conditions: Office environment with patient care activities, exposure to infectious diseases, and occasional adverse conditions.

Salary Range: $29.75 - $49.38 per hour.
