Job summary

City of Phoenix's Planning and Development Department seeks a General Inspections Supervisor to lead the Residential Inspections team. The role oversees General Inspectors, ensures compliance with building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and zoning codes, and provides guidance on code interpretation.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of IBC, IRC, IPC, IMC, NEC codes, strong communication, and experience leading training programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience inspecting residential construction for code compliance.
• Must obtain two ICC/IAEI certifications by end of probation.
• Background check required; valid driver's license required.
• Two certifications listed in the minimum qualifications must be achieved.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and review work of General Inspectors in residential inspections.
• Provide guidance on code interpretation and second opinions for the public.
• Lead training and on‑the‑job training for inspectors.
• Ensure consistency across inspection zones and monitor workload.
