Job summary

RTI International, a scientific research institute, seeks an Investigator/Trialist - Research Epidemiologist in North Carolina or as a domestic teleworker. You will lead multi-site clinical studies, design protocols, manage data, and present findings at conferences.

Qualifications

• A doctorate in epidemiology or related field and at least 8 years' experience working in multi-center clinical research, preferably including randomized trials.
• Successfully led or co-led at least two public health research projects, including multi-site coordinating centers and/or prospective data collection.
• Experience in obtaining funding and leading or co-leading NIH and other federally-funded research projects is strongly preferred.
• 4+ years experience working on FDA-regulated trials, including new drug and device studies, is required.
• Demonstrable leadership to foster growth in research funding, staff capabilities, and scientific excellence.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams including senior and early career researchers, statisticians, data managers, technologists, and project managers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of the overall project leadership team for coordinating centers of multi-site research projects, including randomized clinical trials.
• Provide leadership for operational and scientific aspects of the project, including study design, protocol development, data collection, and results presentation.
• Lead or participate in research network committees and liaise with funding agencies and Data Safety Monitoring Boards.
• Guide multi-disciplinary teams in coordinating center operations, data management, and subawards.
• Maintain effective communication with funding officials, site leadership, collaborators, laboratories, and core facilities.
• Oversee contractual and fiscal aspects of the coordinating center or clinical trial, ensuring timely reporting and staffing.
