Job summary

Cal Poly Humboldt is seeking a Research Computing Specialist to lead Humboldt’s High Performance Computing Center and research computing services. You will consult with faculty, students, and campus partners to map research goals to technology options, coordinate projects, and ensure delivery of reliable research computing solutions.

You will develop training materials, provide technical guidance, review workflows and code for quality, and mentor student assistants while maintaining

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may substitute for the required experience.
• Experience designing and delivering research computing, HPC, or AI/ML environments.
• Ability to mentor student assistants and coordinate cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Consult with faculty, students, and partners to understand computing needs and map to technology options.
• Lead day‑to‑day HPC research services facilitation and project coordination.
• Provide technical guidance for workflows, review code and documentation for quality and reproducibility.
• Develop and deliver training, demonstrations, and outreach to campus groups.
• Provide lead direction and mentoring to student assistants.
• Maintain accurate service documentation and guides for research computing services.
• Support other duties as assigned.
