Job summary

The University of Michigan Medical School's Department of Microbiology and Immunology in Ann Arbor seeks a Research Administrator Lead to manage financial portfolios for sponsored and non-sponsored research, provide budget projections, account reconciliations and reporting, and help implement best practices in financial management.

You will work with faculty to develop funding strategies, monitor performance, ensure compliance with sponsor policies, and contribute to SOPs.

Qualifications

Experience managing complex sponsored research portfolios.
Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks with deadlines and work in a team.
Understand, interpret, and communicate university policies and procedures.
Lead requires 8–10 years of progressive experience in research administration.
Senior requires 5–7 years of progressive experience and a bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

Serve as Lead Research Administrator and subject-matter expert for faculty investigators and research staff.
Provide strategic oversight of a portfolio of sponsored and non-sponsored activities; promote compliance.
Partner with faculty to develop funding strategies, monitor performance and projections.
Provide guidance on pre- and post-award administration, effort management, budget development and sponsor policies.
Develop SOPs, reporting tools, training materials and other resources to improve efficiency.
Lead post-award activities including financial monitoring, reporting, and closeout.
