Job summary

King County is seeking a Remedial Actions Lead (Engineer III) at the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill. This senior role provides technical direction on environmental remediation projects, leads cross-functional teams, and supports CIP efforts from design through commissioning.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multiple teams, and help advance remediation strategies while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. This hybrid, full-time position requires travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is required or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Progressive experience in environmental remediation is required.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and contractors during remediation activities.
• Experience applying regulatory frameworks such as MTCA, CERCLA, or similar programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive remediation program for the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill.
• Provide technical oversight and project management from discovery through cleanup.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies overseeing spill response and cleanup.
• Prepare and review consultant RFPs, bid documents, and contract negotiations.
• Collaborate with Operations, regulatory teams, and on-site construction for remediation actions.
• Oversee field investigations and ensure compliance with design manuals.
