Job summary

Cowboy Space Corporation is seeking its first Reliability Engineer in the United States to establish our reliability practices for a space-based energy platform. You will define what reliability means for the vehicle and propulsion interfaces, not simply adopt a standard playbook, and you will collaborate across propulsion, structures, and avionics teams.

You will implement a tailored reliability toolkit, decide analysis depth, own FMECA/fault trees, consider physics of failure, and ensure test

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, or similar.
• Experience owning reliability in hardware with consequences.
• Strong knowledge of FMECA, fault trees, and life-data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Decide reliability toolkit for the program and defend its inclusions.
• Pick analysis depth per subsystem (FMECA or simplified reviews).
• Own the failure analyses: FMEA/FMECA, fault trees, single-point-failure, common-cause, redundancy trades.
• Work physics-of-failure: fatigue, thermal cycling, cryogenic effects, contamination, wear.
• Define tests to prove reliability and plan instrumentation early.
• Run rapid failure reviews and corrective actions with engineers.
• Build lightweight tooling with Python and version control.
• Teach engineers to think about failure modes early.
