Job summary

Banc of California is seeking a VP, Relationship Manager for the Central Coast to lead sourcing and underwriting of commercial real estate loans in the San Luis Obispo area. The role focuses on building relationships, performing rigorous credit analysis, and guiding loans through approval and closing processes.

The successful candidate will bring 6–8 years of lending experience, a finance-related degree, strong regulatory knowledge, and proficiency with Excel, Argus, and Moody's systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–8 years of experience in commercial lending, including valuation and asset management, and financial analysis.
• BA degree in finance or related field is required.
• Knowledge of and adherence to state/federal regulations (e.g., Reg Z, Reg B, HMDA, RESPA, FCRA, BSA/AML, CIP, CRA).
• General knowledge of loan documentation, collateral analysis and financial statements.
• Proficient with spreadsheets (Excel, Word) and Argus; familiarity with Moody’s analysis systems; strong writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Source opportunities and negotiate/issue term sheets for commercial loans.
• Review borrower submissions and prepare credit presentations for approvers.
• Guide credit requests through review and assist loan administration through closing.
• Analyze borrower and guarantor balance sheets and cash flows to assess credit facilities.
• Maintain market knowledge and develop referral networks to generate opportunities.
• Support, coach, and develop team members and participate in hiring decisions.
