Position Summary

The Lead Respiratory Therapist (RT) acts as "Charge Therapist," overseeing staffing, assigning duties, mentoring staff, and ensuring quality patient care. The role includes direct clinical coverage, staff support, and equipment management.

The Lead RT must have knowledge in respiratory assessment and acute care management, maintain BLS and ACLS certifications, and monitor inventory needs.

Skills

Demonstrates age-specific assessment and communication skills for patient groups including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Provides appropriate care based on the department's scope.

Education & Work Experience

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Care Practitioner program
• Associates degree required; BS/BA preferred
• Minimum 5 years RT experience

Licensure & Certification

• Active Maryland license from MPBQA
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC)
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification within six months of hire
