Mayo Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Lead for a nursing job in Barron, Wisconsin.

Our Medical Surgical department in Barron, WI is currently offering a $7,500 hiring bonus for this position. This incentive is offered to external new hires only. Details will be shared upon job offer.

The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor roles, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. Delegation of patient care is based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. The RN must possess excellent communication skills, be skilled in mentoring and teaching, and may participate in committees or projects. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as part of their role responsibilities.

This role functions as an RN but also as an RN Relief Team Lead, covering for the primary team lead. Responsibilities include acting as a formal and informal leader on the unit, collaborating with management for daily planning, and serving as a clinical resource across the facility.

This position is eligible for TN sponsorship, which requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or an equivalent certification.

Qualifications include a graduate of a nursing program and at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting for Relief Team Lead duties. Entry-level RNs with a start date after April 1, 2020, must provide evidence of a baccalaureate degree in nursing within five years of their start date. Those with a start date prior to April 1, 2020, must provide evidence of a baccalaureate degree as per the degree requirements at hire.

Additional Qualifications

  • One year of RN experience in an applicable setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills; prior experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and critical thinking skills.

License or Certification

  • Current RN license per state requirements.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Additional state licensure or certifications as required by the work area.
