Children's Specialized ABA in Clifton, NJ is seeking a Lead Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). You will mentor newer BTs/RBTs, support classroom systems, and partner with BCBAs to move children toward their goals.

This full-time on-site role requires active RBT certification, at least 6 months' RBT experience, BCBA student status preferred, and strong communication. You'll lead by example and help ensure high-quality, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Active, unexpired RBT Certification is required and must be maintained throughout tenure.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience as an RBT in a center-based setting.
• BCBA student status strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on ABA therapy one-on-one or in group sessions.
• Implement BCBA-designed goals: reinforcement, teaching, behavior reduction, DTT.
• Adapt strategies in real-time under BCBA guidance.
• Maintain accurate data collection, session notes, and program books.
• Design teaching materials and manage classroom activities.

The Opportunity

Ready to take the next step in your ABA career? As a Lead RBT, you're the glue that holds a classroom together — and the go-to person newer BTs/RBTs look up to. You'll support the structure, consistency, and quality of care across your assigned classrooms while stepping into real leadership: mentoring teammates, sharpening classroom systems, and partnering closely with BCBAs to move kids toward their goals. This is a role built for someone ready to lead by example, not just by title.

What You'll Do

Clinical Leadership & Direct Care

• Provide hands-on ABA therapy one-on-one or in group sessions, bringing energy and consistency to every child you work with.
• Bring BCBA-designed goals to life — reinforcement, teaching, and behavior-reduction procedures, discrete trial teaching, and more.
• Use your judgment (within BCBA-approved frameworks) to adapt strategies in the moment while partnering with BCBAs on treatment integrity.
• Conduct and help interpret stimulus preference assessments, and collaborate with BCBAs on client goals, skill assessments, and checklists.
• Keep documentation sharp — accurate data collection, session notes, and program books, with sessions converted in Central Reach within 24 hours.

Program & Classroom Leadership

• Own classroom organization, weekly schedules, and craft/activity programming that keeps every day running smoothly.
• Forecast and manage supplies and inventory so the team always has what they need.
• Design and send out monthly newsletters that keep families and staff in the loop.
• Champion employee engagement — shout-out boards, gift cards, pizza parties, and other ways to celebrate the team.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Be the first friendly face and go-to resource for new BTs/RBTs — especially on Central Reach and day-to-day workflows.
• Train, coach, and give real-time, constructive feedback to teammates.
• Step in to provide clinic-level coverage when the team needs it most, working confidently with kids across all levels of the spectrum.
• Hit and hold your competency benchmarks, modeling the standard you expect from others.

Family Partnership & Professionalism

• Talk through daily progress with parents and caregivers with warmth and clarity.
• Protect client well-being, dignity, and confidentiality in every interaction.
• Show up prepared, on time, and ready — and keep growing through continuing education.
• Comply with all BACB and company policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

What You'll Need

• High school diploma

Work Location & Hours

This is a full-time position on-site in our Clifton EI center. The core hours for this position are M-F 8:45am-5:15pm

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $52k-$55k/year

Final compensation will be based on a range of factors, such as your skills, education, experience, certifications, market conditions, and internal equity. All offers are made in alignment with applicable federal and state laws.
