Job summary

Valero Ardmore Refinery is seeking a Staff Project Engineer to lead capital projects from design through execution, delivering safe, cost-effective solutions. You will manage budgets, schedules, QA/QC, and interfaces with contract project managers while ensuring alignment with the refinery's goals.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, 8 years in engineering and project management, and 3 years in a refinery/petrochemical environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering required.
• 8 years of engineering and project management experience required.
• 3 years exposure in a refinery/petrochemical operating environment required.
• On-site work at Valero Ardmore Refinery required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, perform cost estimation and prepare/submit AFE and DRB documents for capital and expense projects.
• Understand and implement the budget, appropriations and project control processes for capital workload.
• Perform the final review and approval of designs, budgets, project plans, schedules, resources, QA/QC procedures and project reports.
• Recruit and oversee contract project managers.
• Track cost and schedule performance of projects relative to the capital budget.
• Manage the capital project program spend while project schedule and performance are not compromised.
• Prepare specifications and procure materials and equipment for a timely and efficient execution of projects.
• Provide technical support to all refinery departments that will result in safe, efficient and cost effective installations.
• Oversee and coordinate contract personnel for engineering, design and installation of capital, expense and maintenance projects.
• Perform cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule.
• Provide support to Refinery during planned and unplanned outages, including availability to respond to and support critical business needs during off-hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Follow all safety rules and guidelines as established by the Refinery.
