Job summary

GovCIO seeks a React Software Engineer to rebuild customer-facing apps, moving from a legacy Spring Boot + Thymeleaf stack to a modern, scalable front-end platform. You’ll define architecture, standards, and development practices while collaborating with architects, backend, DevOps, security, and product teams.

This fully remote role in the United States offers leadership in front-end modernization, reusable design systems, and secure delivery pipelines within a DevSecOps culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's with 7 years (or commensurate experience).
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years building production applications with React.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of modern customer-facing web applications using React and TypeScript.
• Define the future front-end architecture, including component libraries, state management, routing, authentication, and API integration patterns.
• Modernize legacy applications by migrating from server-rendered Spring Boot/Thymeleaf applications to a decoupled front-end architecture.
• Collaborate with backend teams to build clean REST and GraphQL APIs that support modern web experiences.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, accessibility, performance, and security.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for front-end applications within a DevSecOps environment.
• Integrate automated testing, static analysis, dependency scanning, and security validation into the development lifecycle.
• Champion reusable UI components, shared design systems, and consistent engineering practices across applications.
• Mentor engineers and help grow modern front-end development capabilities across the team.
• Evaluate emerging front-end technologies and recommend solutions that improve developer productivity and user experience.
