Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a React Software Engineer to rebuild customer‑facing applications from the ground up. Move from a legacy Spring Boot/Thymeleaf stack to a modern, scalable front-end platform with DevSecOps practices.

You will define architecture, standards, and development practices, collaborating with architects, backend teams, and product owners to deliver fast, secure web experiences.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years building production apps with React.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of modern front-end architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with state management like Redux, Zustand, or React Query.
• Experience consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with automated testing (Jest, RTL, Cypress, Playwright).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud-native deployments and containerized apps.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of modern customer-facing web applications using React and TypeScript.
• Help define the future front-end architecture, including libraries, state management, routing, authentication, and API patterns.
• Migrate legacy Spring Boot/Thymeleaf apps to a decoupled front-end architecture.
• Collaborate with backend teams to build REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, accessibility, performance, and security.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for front-end apps in a DevSecOps environment.
• Integrate automated testing, static analysis, dependency scanning, and security validation.
• Champion reusable UI components and design systems across apps.
• Mentor engineers and grow modern front-end capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging front-end tech to improve productivity and user experience.
