Job summary

GEMD is seeking a Lead Radiology Technician in Florida to oversee quality imaging across X-Ray and CT modalities and to provide leadership within the radiology team. The role emphasizes adherence to protocols, staff development, and participation in QA/PI activities.

The Lead will coordinate daily workflows, support the Facility Leader, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements while driving improvements in imaging quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality imaging on X-Ray and CT studies for diverse patients.
  • Lead growth meetings with radiology technologists to identify improvements and meet quality metrics.
  • Adhere to all protocols and promote them positively within the team.
  • Represent GEMD professionally during surveys by bodies such as DOH, COLA, AHCA, JC, etc.
  • Participate in QA/PI activities to support continuous improvement.
  • Manage maintenance and testing of imaging equipment (CT, X-Ray, US).
  • Update protocols as needed and communicate unsafe practices to facilities leadership.
  • Ensure smooth workflow of the clinical area and address workflow challenges.
  • Provide ongoing education and training to the team on new processes/equipment.
  • Assist in hiring and termination decisions for radiology staff.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and support the Facility Leader when needed.
  • Utilize facility software to reference patient records and protocols.
  • Comply with information security policies and report on performance.
  • Contribute to achieving quality metrics (Door to EKG, Troponin TAT, Door to Antibiotic).
  • Support Facility Leader and Lead Rad Tech as a positive team player.
  • Complete daily checklists and participate in morning huddles on shift.
  • Manage clinical inventory and participate in OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission, ALARA education.

Job description

General Summary

The Lead Radiology Tech completes quality imaging on a variety of patients requiring X-Ray’s and/or CT studies and serves in a leadership role within the Radiology Team.

Description Of Essential Duties
  • In addition to performing all items in the Radiology Tech Job Description, the Lead position will also:
  • Perform meaningful growth meeting with RT’s on a routine basis and identify areas of improvement that will result in the meeting or exceeding of organizational quality metric goals.
  • Adhere to and positively promote all protocols
  • Professionally and expertly represent GEMD during surveys related to the clinical area (DOH, COLA, AHCA, JC, etc.)
  • Participation in QA/PI activities
  • Light Alignment Testing
  • Lead Shield Testing
  • Equipment PM’s
  • Other audits as dictated by the FL or VP of Clinical Operations
  • Maintenance of all diagnostic imaging equipment (CT scanner, X-Ray unit, US machine, and all their components)
  • Maintain quality standards by updating protocols as needed, making recommendations based on current best practices, bringing to the attention of the Facility Leader any unsafe practices, etc.
  • Ensure the workflow of the clinical area during the workday, addressing any issues/challenges
  • Communicate positively with all team members and patients
  • Continuous education and training of team on new or updated processes/equipment
  • Actively participate in the hiring and termination of radiology team
  • Serve as a strong resource for the staff and support the Facility Leader in their absence
  • Utilize organizational specific software to reference old patient records and organizational protocols
  • Follow the information security policies and management system, contributing to their effectiveness, and actively reporting on their performance
  • Function in a manner that supports the facility in meeting or exceeding goals set forth in the quality metrics (Door to EKG, Troponin TAT, Door to Antibiotic, Etc.)
  • Support the Facility Leader (FL) and Lead Rad Tech by being a positive team player
  • Completion of daily checklists
  • Participate in morning huddles when on shift
  • Accurate completion of clinical inventory as assigned
  • Participate in facility specific education and training (i.e., OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission, ALARA, etc.)
  • Timely completion of tasks as assigned by the Facility Leader and VP Clinical Operations
