Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Senior Therapist to provide leadership in the Radiation Oncology department at Royal Oak Hospital. The role involves overseeing patient treatment sessions, QA, and education for staff while ensuring safety and compassionate care for oncology patients.

Daily responsibilities include treatment administration, image acquisition, and collaboration with physicians, dosimetry, nursing, and support teams.

Qualifications

• Requires ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy.
• Experience with radiation therapy procedures and treatment planning.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Radiation Therapy with valid licensure.

Responsibilities

• Administers prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment.
• Administers contrast material when indicated; monitors patient closely and manages adverse reactions.
• Reviews prescription, diagnosis, patient chart and verifies delivered dosages.
• Prepares immobilization, treatment and protection devices and checks equipment operation.
• Observes patient progress, reports complications and halts treatment if needed.
• Educates patients and families about treatment effects and post-treatment care.
• Positions patients accurately for treatment and acquires imaging as directed by the physician.
