Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a Radiation Therapist to perform CT simulation and treatment planning tasks. The role involves verifying prescriptions, positioning patients accurately, and ensuring high-quality imaging and treatment delivery on a day schedule.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Radiation Therapy is required.
  • Field of Study: Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program is required.
  • Registered Technologist – Therapy (R.T.(T)(ARRT)) and BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients' needs and resolves issues in a timely, courteous manner.
  • Verifies prescription and treatment parameters daily for accuracy.
  • Identifies treatment volume and positions patient consistently.
  • Performs CT Simulation including contrast administration under physician supervision.
  • Evaluates imaging, makes changes, documents in the EHR.
  • Reviews new starts for consistency; checks blocks, docs, dose sheets and field orientation.
  • Represents the department at meetings; monitors staff/patient surveys.
  • Provides supervised education for students; participates in after-hours on-call.
  • Coordinates schedules to ensure efficient flow and staffing.
  • Mentors and supervises radiation therapists; daily coaching and evaluation.
  • Performs morning QA on the treatment unit and addresses malfunctions.

Job Description: Shift: Days Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM AdventHealth will bring a 60-acre health and wellness campus to Lake Nona in late 2026. This location will offer medical innovations on a campus designed around whole person health with comprehensive services, destination lifestyle programs, and much more that will shape the next generation of health care. Our services include emergency services, urgent care, a wide range of medical specialists (including primary care), lab, imaging, orthopedics, sports medicine and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses patients' needs and resolves potential problems or conflicts, treating patients in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Verifies the physician’s prescription and treatment parameters daily to ensure accurate treatment in accordance with the prescription and treatment plan.
  • Identifies the treatment volume and positions the patient consistently and reproducibly.
  • Performs all aspects of CT Simulation, including administering contrast agents during simulation localization under the direction of the physician or non-physician practitioner.
  • Evaluates prescribed imaging, makes requested changes within prescribed time period, and documents treatment information in the patient electronic health record (EHR).
  • Reviews all new starts for consistency prior to treatment, checking blocks, simulation documents, dose calculation sheets, prescriptions, field photos, and verifying patient positioning and field orientation.
  • Represents the department at meetings as necessary, working with the site leader to monitor patient and staff satisfaction surveys and keeping radiation therapists informed of pertinent information.
  • Provides supervised education experiences for students that fulfill the curriculum requirements of the academic institution.
  • Participates in after-hours on-call coverage and maintains competency with after-hours treatment coverage.
  • Coordinates schedules and maintains a timely and efficient flow within the treatment schedule, monitoring labor and productivity, and adjusting staffing schedules as needed.
  • Serves as a mentor by coaching, evaluating, counseling, and educating team members, providing direct daily supervision to radiation therapists.
  • Performs morning quality assurance on the treatment unit, assessing equipment operation according to physics policy and addressing malfunctions immediately.
