Job summary

AdventHealth Orlando is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for PRN shifts to join a faith-based health care team committed to extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. Responsibilities include patient positioning, radiographic imaging, maintaining ALARA standards, and accurate EMR/PACS documentation, while collaborating with physicians, nurses and other staff in a high-volume environment.

This role requires certification (RT-R) and CPR, with 1+ year radiology experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
  • Associate degree preferred; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 1+ year radiology experience or new graduate from accredited program (Required/Preferred)
  • Registered Technologist – Radiography RT(R)(ARRT) required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Must read, write and speak conversational English (Required)
  • Knowledge of x-ray procedures and patient positioning (Required)
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced, high-volume environment (Required)
  • Excellent communication with patients, families, and staff (Required)
  • Adhere to radiation safety and ALARA principles (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others.
  • Move, position, and manipulate radiographic equipment to complete procedures safely.
  • Perform direct patient care duties within technologist scope, including monitoring and transporting patients.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and equipment is cleaned and safe.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when inventory is low and stock is replenished.
  • Cross-train into advanced modalities as needed.
  • Follow ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure while achieving high-quality images.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EMR and PACS systems.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers, team members, and others of diverse backgrounds. Moves, positions, and manipulates radiographic equipment to complete requested procedures safely. Performs direct patient care duties within the technologist’s scope of practice, including monitoring patient condition, transporting patient, and using proper infection control techniques. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Cross‑trains into advanced modalities as needed. Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, distance and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patient and staff. Performs radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high‑quality images that meet department standards. Positions patients and equipment, selecting technical factors to produce radiographic images safely and in a timely manner. Performs imaging with correct patient demographic and examination information. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging to include Surgery and Trauma [Required]
  • Previous Radiologic Technologist experience [Preferred]
  • One year post certification experience required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers [Required]
  • Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately [Required]
  • Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray producing equipment, if applicable per facility [Required]
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry [Required]
  • Able to fully use all Radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment [Required]
  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
  • This position requires knowledge of the use of computerized and radiographic equipment to perform diagnostic procedures in a manner consistent with minimal radiation exposure and maximum image quality [Required]
  • The ability to communicate and receive instructions, verbally and written and carry them out as directed [Required]
  • Must be able to operate radiographic equipment and work with electrical and radiant energy [Required]
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general radiographic procedures [Required]
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment [Required]
  • Strong critical thinking skills [Required]
  • Must have the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care that addressed the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age‑appropriate needs to the patient population served within the department [Required]

Work Experience
  • 1+ year experience preferably in radiology or a new graduate of accredited radiologic technology program [Required]
