Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Virginia seeks a Lead Quality Engineer to drive quality improvements across transformer manufacturing.

You will lead statistical analysis, PFMEA, control plans, and root-cause investigations to raise product quality and customer satisfaction. The role requires a Bachelor's in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years in transformer manufacturing, ISO 9001 knowledge, and proficiency with SAP QM, Minitab, AutoCAD, SharePoint and Power BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of transformer or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• Experience with ISO 9001 and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with SAP QM, Minitab, AutoCAD, SharePoint, and Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of PFMEA, 5 Why, Fishbone, and 8D methodologies.
• Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt certification or equivalent; Green Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead statistical analysis to validate and improve quality control processes.
• Lead PFMEA, control plans, process flow charts, and MSA documentation.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement CAPA.
• Lead problem solving to drive continuous improvement and reduce costs.
• Ensure ISO 9001, CSA N299.3, and applicable ASME/IEC/IEEE standards compliance.
• Support change control, document control, design reviews, and new product introductions.
• Participate in supplier qualification and quality evaluations.
• Develop and deliver training programs to strengthen quality awareness.

How You'll Make an Impact

Your Background

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in transformer or equivalent manufacturing, including production processes, quality control, and shop floor operations.
• Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with SAP QM, Minitab, AutoCAD, SharePoint, and Power BI.
• Strong knowledge of quality tools, including PFMEA, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, and 8D problem‑solving methodologies.
• Minimum Six Sigma Yellow Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement experience. Green Belt certification is preferred.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
