Job summary

Equiliem is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer in Beltsville, MD to drive quality systems across manufacturing processes. You will supervise Quality Leading Indicators, Supplier Quality oversight, quality calibration, audits, and special processes, mentoring staff and guiding corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing or quality environment.
  • ITAR compliance required; U.S. person definition applies.

Job summary

The Lead Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of products through the development and enforcement of quality systems and manufacturing processes while fostering a continuous improvement environment. This role provides direction and supervision to personnel responsible for Quality Leading Indicators, Supplier Quality oversight, quality calibration, audits, and special processes. The engineer develops robust tracking, evaluation, and corrective action activities and mentors employees on quality systems across manufacturing, auditing, and processing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary organizational contact for Quality Leading Indicators execution and ensure appropriate actions are deployed to ensure program success.

  • Coordinate, direct, and prioritize Supplier Quality, quality calibration, audits, and special processes activities to focus on quality, compliance, cost, and delivery objectives.

  • Lead the quality team to maintain continuous improvement activities.

  • Identify and address training, mentoring, and development needs of the team.

  • Develop, set, and achieve goals aligned with the Quality Department and plant objectives.

  • Communicate quality systems issues to frontline leaders and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Deploy business system tools to improve quality management system effectiveness.

  • Ensure organizational readiness for customer and third-party assessments and host auditors as needed.

  • Coordinate supplier quality activities both interdivisional and within supplier quality management systems.

  • Respond to notifications from customer portals to ensure actions meet or exceed customer requirements.

  • Review customer requirement updates to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing or quality environment.

  • This position requires compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR); applicants must meet ITAR definition of a U.S. person.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree from an accredited institution.

  • 5 years in an aerospace quality manufacturing role.

  • 3 years managing people.

  • 5 years working in a quality systems function.

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Black Belt certification.
Additional Information

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and requirements.

  • Knowledge of quality systems such as AS9100, ISO 9001, TS16949.

  • Coordinate measuring system knowledge.

  • ASQ CQE or CMQOE certification preferred.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and quality software.
