Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead Python Engineer with deep crypto expertise to drive architecture and delivery of secure, scalable systems for trading, custody, and settlement. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to shape direction and ensure high-quality solutions.

The role demands hands-on design and governance across features, microservices, and secure integrations with blockchain networks while maintaining rigorous testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development and coding in Python.
• 1+ years of experience in a technical leadership capacity.
• Expert-level knowledge of software and application design, architecture, and system design patterns.
• Deep understanding of SDLC processes with experience shaping them within a team.
• Strong background in SOA, microservices, and containerized applications at scale.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases with performance tuning.
• Experience with REST/WebSocket-based crypto APIs and blockchain SDKs.
• English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of complex features and new products, setting the technical vision for the team
• Collaborate with product owners, team leads, and stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical strategies and roadmaps
• Define and own technical specifications, selecting appropriate technologies, workflows, and coding standards
• Present and justify architectural decisions to engineering leadership and the CTO
• Establish and enforce best practices for unit and integration testing across the team
• Ensure software meets high standards of quality, security, scalability, modifiability, and extensibility
• Lead code reviews, drive refactoring, and raise the engineering bar
• Mentor engineers and foster knowledge sharing across teams
• Architect secure integrations with blockchain networks, crypto exchanges, and wallets
• Shape development of systems supporting cryptocurrency trading, custody, and settlement
• Own technical risks and trade-offs across projects
• Perform other duties as necessary
