Job description

Lead Python Developer (Hybrid)

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the Python stack, design patterns, and microservices. This role involves leadership responsibilities, including developing enterprise-level web applications. The candidate will ensure robust and efficient system operations, playing a key role in advancing our company's mission.

Location: Richmond or McLean, VA - USA.

Cognizant will only consider applicants who are legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship (H-1B, L-1B, L-1A, etc.)

The onsite position requires presence at the office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Design enterprise solutions using Python and related technologies.
• Develop scalable web applications and RESTful APIs using Microservices and design patterns.
• Demonstrate strong skills in JSON, Web Services, XML, XSLT, PL/SQL.
• Communicate effectively with clients.
• Lead a team of 6-10 members.
• Knowledge of AWS is required.
• Experience with Kafka, MongoDB, SQL.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree or equivalent with 8+ years of IT experience in Python technologies.
• Experience in Design Patterns, Microservices, and Advanced SQL.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud and integrations.
• Proficiency with Docker, GIT, Maven, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, analytical, self-motivated, and effective in distributed teams.
• AWS certification is a plus.

Salary and Compensation

The annual salary ranges from $81,337 to $141,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and company policies.
