Job summary

BLN24 is seeking a Lead Python Developer to support CFPB's RegTech program by architecting scalable, cloud-native, public-facing solutions. You will lead remote teams, design API-driven systems, and drive Python-based services using Kubernetes and AWS.

The role demands extensive experience in distributed architectures, API design, and cross-functional leadership across geographically dispersed teams. Remotely flexible with on-site options in McLean, VA.

Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional remote team and act as technical authority
• Architect API-driven, fault-tolerant, distributed cloud-native solutions
• Develop and troubleshoot Python-based containerized and serverless apps using Kubernetes and AWS services
• Design performant REST APIs with modern Python frameworks
• Build Python libraries and services with strong unit/integration tests
• Create CI/CD pipelines for linting, testing, scanning, packaging, and deployment
• Design PostgreSQL databases for high-volume ingestion and analytics
• Develop and provision AWS resources using Infrastructure as Code
• Integrate with web-based identity management and verification services
• Manage open-source codebases and public releases on GitHub

Position Overview:

BLN24 is seeking a Lead Python Developer to support CFPB's RegTech BPA program by architecting and leading development of scalable, cloud-native, public-facing solutions. This role requires extensive experience designing API-driven, fault-tolerant, distributed systems in Python, hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and AWS-native serverless services, and demonstrated leadership of remote, cross-functional development teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as lead developer and technical authority for a cross-functional team of remote developers
• Architect API-driven, fault-tolerant, distributed, cloud-native solutions
• Develop, deploy, and troubleshoot Python-based containerized and serverless applications using Kubernetes and AWS-native services
• Design and implement performant REST APIs using modern Python frameworks
• Build Python-based libraries and services with high unit and integration test coverage
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for linting, testing, scanning, packaging, and deploying Python services
• Design PostgreSQL databases optimized for high-volume data ingestion and analytics, integrated with Python services
• Build Python-based ETL pipelines and provision AWS resources using Infrastructure as Code
• Integrate applications with web-based identity management and verification services
• Manage open-source codebases and public-facing releases using GitHub for source control and planning

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience architecting scalable solutions, including API-driven, fault-tolerant, distributed, cloud-native solutions
• Solid understanding of system design, with specific experience developing, deploying, and troubleshooting Python-based containerized and serverless applications in a highly elastic architecture using Kubernetes and AWS-native services
• Experience leading a cross-functional team of remote developers and serving as a lead developer
• Experience working on open-source projects and delivering public-facing solutions
• Experience working with GitHub for source code management and planning
• Experience developing Python-based libraries and services with high unit and integration test coverage
• Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for linting, testing, scanning, packaging, and deploying Python-based services
• Experience designing and implementing performant REST APIs using modern Python frameworks
• Experience integrating with web-based identity management and verification services
• Experience designing PostgreSQL databases geared toward high-volume data ingestion and analytics, integrated into Python services
• Experience developing and provisioning AWS resources with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Experience designing and implementing Python-based ETL pipelines

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• CI/CD pipeline experience with GitHub Actions
• REST API experience with FastAPI
• Identity management and verification experience with OIDC
• IaC experience with Python-based AWS CDK
• ETL pipeline experience with AWS event-driven services such as S3, EventBridge, and Lambda
• Prior engagement at CFPB or other federal financial regulators (e.g., FDIC, OCC, SEC, FRB, NCUA)
• Experience supporting a federal FISMA Moderate or comparable security-compliance environment
