Job summary

Sacramento County is seeking a seasoned inspection supervisor to lead construction inspections for county buildings and public works projects. The role requires directing staff, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards, and coordinating with owners, architects, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.

Candidates should have substantial experience in building inspection or heavy engineering construction, with a relevant degree. A California driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time work experience in Building Inspector II (Range B) or Senior Construction Inspector or higher in Sacramento County or equivalent.
• Five years as project superintendent/field engineer in heavy engineering construction involving public works infrastructure or large buildings.
• Three years as project superintendent/field engineer with a related degree in engineering/architecture/construction management.
• Experience means full-time paid experience unless volunteer experience is stated.
• Educational/certificates proof must be submitted with application.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the inspection staff.
• Enforce codes, plans, specifications and contracts.
• Determine feasibility and changes to contracts.
• Review construction methods and schedules for compliance.
