Job summary

Pierce County is seeking a Public Disclosure Analyst, Lead to act as a subject-matter expert on public disclosure. You will handle highly complex public records requests, conduct research, and guide department Public Records Officers.

The role focuses on transparency and supporting the community’s understanding of County work. You will manage the full disclosure workflow, ensure compliance with laws, coordinate with legal and communications staff, and mentor others.

Qualifications

• Seven years of related experience, including three years in public records work in a government agency or legal setting.
• Resume and cover letter required for this position.
• Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local public records laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, confidential responses to complex and sensitive records requests.
• Manage complex, multi-departmental, high-risk public records requests; coordinate with legal, communications, and staff.
• Lead and document comprehensive records searches and investigations with departmental staff to obtain responsive data.
• Oversee the county’s full public disclosure workflow: intake, evaluation, search, redaction, exemptions, and release of records.
• Ensure consistent interpretation and compliance with public records laws and policies; assess and monitor risk.
• Stay current on changes in state law and apply updates to processes and guidance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain procedures to meet statutory deadlines and track performance metrics.
