Job summary

The Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant 4 in Anchorage. This role requires Alaska residency and supports efforts to provide compassionate care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• One year of paraprofessional psychiatric nursing duties, as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant 3.
• Or three years of experience in paraprofessional aide, treatment, and rehabilitation services for mental illness or related conditions.
• Background checks and TB testing may be required; education may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of therapeutic milieu and nursing unit workflow.
• Lead and assist patients to develop self-reliance in daily living activities.
• Intervene appropriately with patients at risk of harm to self or others.
• Observe and document patient behavior in an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Lead staff and patients in maintaining a stable, therapeutic environment.
