Job summary

Jobtailor in New Jersey seeks an experienced Protection and Control engineer to review changes to existing electric facilities and design new P&C systems.

You will develop relay settings, conduct coordination studies, and lead cross-functional teams on substations capital projects, interfacing with Planning, Operations and Field personnel.

A PE license and 8+ years' experience are required.

Qualifications

• Active P.E. license in the USA.
• 8+ years of protection and controls experience in major utility substation design.
• Familiar with QA/QC processes and AutoCAD.
• Familiar with SEL and IEEE Relay System Protection Guides, Standards and Practices.
• Experience performing coordination studies with ASPEN One-liner modeling software, or equivalent.
• Experience with relay and digital fault recorder event records, and design and installation of protection and control schemes using IEC61850.
• Experience preparing and/or modifying schematics, wiring and logic drawings.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate proposed changes to existing electric facilities.
• Create new Protection and Control system designs in accordance with client standards.
• Specify materials associated with new or modified Protection and Control systems.
• Develop, calculate, and document settings and logic for protective relays, logic processors, feeder reclosers, and switches.
• Perform coordination studies by modeling and analyzing electric system elements and their protection systems.
• Analyze protection system operations during transmission and distribution system disturbances.
• Lead cross-functional teams to drive technical decisions for substation capital projects.
• Develop work requests and RFPs, and evaluate proposals for outsourced work.
• Manage multiple contractors delivering engineering and design services.
• Oversee the technical implementation of complex capital projects.
• Interface with Planning, Operations and Field personnel
