Vast, based in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, Propulsion, to head the propulsion manufacturing team and drive production readiness for hardware including valves, regulators, tubing, and COPVs.

You will partner with propulsion and systems design to enable manufacturing readiness, own schedules, and mentor engineers. 5+ years in aerospace manufacturing and hands-on experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or aerospace engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, propulsion, or high-reliability fluid systems.
• 3+ years hands-on hardware experience with fluid system hardware.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes, travelers, work instructions, and production documentation for safety-critical fluid hardware.
• Experience with CAD tools and reviewing designs to generate manufacturing documentation.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading a workstream (not required to be formal manager).
• Willingness to work evenings/weekends for critical propulsion testing and milestones.

Responsabilités

• Lead propulsion manufacturing team day-to-day: set priorities, assign ownership, run team rhythms.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding new engineers.
• Own manufacturing development, production readiness, and build execution for propulsion hardware.
• Own propulsion manufacturing schedule and build sequencing across development, qualification, and flight builds.
• Report hardware status, risks, and mitigations to program leadership.
• Partner with design teams to drive design for manufacturing and readiness.
• Develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes and production equipment.
• Work with suppliers on manufacturing readiness and approve processes
• Collaborate with quality to define inspection methods and acceptance criteria for safety-critical components
• Set a strong safety and quality culture for high-pressure fluid hardware
