Job summary

City of Winston-Salem is seeking an experienced planner to lead advanced planning projects, develop area plans, and draft land use policies and ordinance amendments. You will coordinate public engagement, review development proposals, and present recommendations to boards and elected officials under limited supervision of the Principal Planner.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in planning, geography, architecture, historic preservation, public administration, or related field and experience in project management, public engagement, policy development, and report preparation.
• Ability to perform complex planning tasks and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead area planning projects from initiation through adoption, including project management, public engagement, data collection and analysis, and writing final planning documents.
• Facilitate community meetings and present recommendations to officials.
• Review zoning petitions and development proposals for consistency with adopted plans.
