Job summary

Leidos’ Undersea Systems Division seeks a Project Officer in San Diego, CA to oversee acceptance, testing, and certification of unmanned maritime vehicles for NIWC PAC. The role bridges R&D and production, directs a lab team, and ensures government testing standards are met.

The position requires Top Secret clearance and a 9/80B schedule to align with NIWC government team, with a pay range shown in the posting. Lead with strong project management and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain TOP SECRET security clearance; active SECRET clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Process-oriented and attention to detail.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Experience working with and managing small groups.
• Flexible and responsive to customer needs.
• Able to move around piers, docks and facility spaces; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work aboard marine vessels and in loud production environments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with NIWC Vehicle SMEs to review vehicle system data and address issues.
• Support Test Director with planning and executing at-sea FATs, performance testing, and certification checks.
• Manage and maintain the Master Production Schedule and system milestones.
• Engage with industry partners on schedules, issues, and resources.
• Keep NIWC leadership informed of risks, issues, and challenges.
• Oversee vehicle configuration to meet sponsor requirements.
• Generate vehicle readiness reports and track issues/failures.
• Manage vehicle inventory, materials, parts, and procurement of lab supplies.
• Align flow of materials to meet production requirements.
• Prepare procurement requests based on MPS, shop load, and inventory.
• Maintain lab space and test equipment.
• Coordinate in-lab test procedures, plans, tools, and equipment for FATs and at-sea tests.
• Liaison between Engineering/R&D and Production teams.
• Implement and oversee QA and configuration management programs.
• Maintain knowledge of quality control and analyze data for decisions.
