Job summary

RTX is seeking a Project Engineer for Development Operations (DO) Test Systems Engineering (TSE) to manage Special Test Equipment (STE) design projects in support of jet engine validation and production testing. This role is based in East Hartford, CT and requires coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver on-time, within budget goals.

The successful candidate will lead design reviews, manage procurement, and maintain EVMS schedules while navigating DoD Secret clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field.
• 8 years of engineering experience, or an advanced STEM degree with 5 years of engineering experience.
• Knowledge of project management toolsets (e.g., Agile, SAP, Primavera, MS Project).
• Active Secret Clearance (DoD) is preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidiscipline DO team through an estimating process to provide a comprehensive plan when required to secure future work.
• Initiate design kick off. Identify and align on project scope with stakeholders.
• Manage design requirements and ensure gap closure by need dates.
• Continuously monitor and track project schedule and EAC to ensure design and fabrication are within cost and schedule constraints.
• Prepare and present EV status of all tasks that require EVMS.
• Ensure timely completion of project milestones such as design reviews to meet schedule requirements.
• Schedule design reviews, ensuring presentations are comprehensive and meet criteria.
• Manage procurement of STE and track outside vendor fabrication for on-time delivery.
• Communicate project status and risks to TSE management, customers, and key stakeholders.
• Travel up to 10%.
