Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Project Engineer - Proposals to lead the technical evaluation and development of customer proposals for complex power system and automation projects. The role covers reviewing RFQs, developing preliminary designs, risk assessments, cash flow projections, and schedules, while collaborating with Contracts to finalize commercial terms.

This position requires a strategic, technically skilled professional who can effectively lead proposal

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience with electric power systems or industrial automation.
• Knowledge of electric power system protection, control, integration, automation, and communications.
• Ability to lead and supervise project teams.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
• Background check and drug screening clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead across multiple projects from concept to execution.
• Identify, prepare, and present proposals for SEL equipment, services, and systems.
• Review RFQs and technical specs to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions.
• Lead project teams to resolve customer concerns and ensure satisfaction.
• Develop work statements, preliminary designs, and schedules.
• Collaborate with Contracts to finalize terms and conditions.
• Mentor staff and ensure supervision when required.
• Promote SEL values and manufacturing principles.
