Job summary

The Planet Group in Buffalo, NY seeks a Project Engineer - Packaged Equipment to lead custom equipment projects from order to delivery. You will interpret customer requirements and ensure technical compliance while coordinating between customers, suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, and project management.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, at least five years of related experience, and strong customer-facing communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of related engineering or project experience.
• Exceptional communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Experience with large-scale, complex projects and interpreting specifications.
• Experience in packaged equipment manufacturing with long project lifecycles.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer data including drawings, specs, and codes for mechanical/electrical systems.
• Act as technical lead and primary customer contact.
• Track and manage technical data throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide input to engineering and drafting teams for drawings.
• Support manufacturing with technical docs and guidance.
• Coordinate with customers to clarify questions.
• Develop and issue supplier inquiries for component selection and cost.
• Purchase and expedite engineered components as needed.
• Develop inspection and test plans for manufactured equipment.
• Work with Project Manager to monitor cost estimates and meet requirements.
