Job summary

BioSource International, Inc. is seeking a Strategic Project Engineering Manager in the NC/VA area.

This role drives automation projects for the meat processing industry, translating complex needs into innovative solutions while collaborating with partners and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate brings engineering leadership, advanced project management, and hands-on experience with AutoCAD and budgets over multi-million dollars.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years in a leadership role, including team development.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets.
• Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary designs and specifications for engineering and materials, and prepare project cost estimates.
• Conduct research, feasibility studies, and economic studies for viable designs.
• Determine design criteria per standards and codes; validate field work and create as-built drawings.
• Review and check projects for accuracy; manage project execution with vendors and contractors.
• Coordinate project schedules with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors.
• Direct equipment vendors on layouts, utility requirements and installation timelines.
• Review consultant work and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation: manuals, drawings, parts lists, specs, vendor contacts.
• Conduct planning, design, and operational reviews during pre-project studies.
• Define scope of work, prepare RFPs, and evaluate proposals.
• Submit detailed progress reports to management.
• Oversee contract administration and bid package compliance.
• Prepare essential project documents: budgets, calculations, plans, schedules.
• Monitor installations to ensure budgets and specs are met; manage budget activity.
• Continuously improve robotic and controls knowledge to deliver innovative solutions.
