The Ruhlin Company in Sharon Center, OH is seeking a Lead Project Engineer for its Civil Division. This role focuses on cost control, revenue tracking, and coordinating field operations with the office to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You will build on foundation duties, mentor junior staff, and support safety plan implementation, submittal reviews, and subcontractor reconciliation as part of delivering high-quality construction projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of related civil engineering/project experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service focus.
• Familiarity with construction methods, costing, scheduling, and estimating.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, Viewpoint Vista, and HCSS Heavy Bid.

Responsibilities

• Review phase codes in project software and track budgets.
• Develop and maintain logs for self-perform work including quantities and materials.
• Review cost data with the Superintendent for accuracy.
• Document owner changes and ensure timely compensation.
• Assist with subcontractor pricing collection, compilation, and evaluation.
• Prepare draft owner billings for Project Manager review.
• Monitor and maintain monthly cash flow.
• Support Project Manager with permits and submittals.
• Train and mentor junior staff.

Lead Project Engineer- Civil Division

The Ruhlin Company seeks to hire a Lead Project Engineer for its Civil Division. This position will be based out of Ruhlin's Sharon Center office.

Summary: Increased responsibility for project financial performance and operational compliance. Build on
foundational duties with a focus on cost control, revenue tracking, and coordination between field operations
and the office. Serve as a technical resource by supporting safety plan implementation, submittal reviews, and
subcontractor reconciliation to help keep the project on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

Cost/Revenue

• Review phase codes in project software following budget setup by the estimating team.
• Develop and maintain tracking logs for self-perform work, including quantities, materials,
  subcontractors.
• Review production and cost data with the Superintendent to ensure accuracy.
• Track differing site conditions and owner-directed changes to ensure all extra work is documented and
  processed for timely compensation.
• Support the Project Manager with subcontractor pricing collection, compilation, and evaluation.
• Prepare draft owner billings for Project Manager review.
• Monitor and maintain awareness of monthly cash flow.

General

• Perform all responsibilities of Project Engineer.
• Assist with progress schedule updates in accordance with contract requirements using appropriate
  software.
• Prepare, review, and submit RFI’s to the owner.
• Review and process submittals using project-required software.
• Obtain and maintain required project permits.
• Coordinate and track use of yard materials to support cost efficiency.
• Track and reconcile quantities performed against subcontract scope and special provisions.
• Train and mentor junior staff (Project Engineer), helping to develop their technical and professional
  skills.

Safety

• Develop and maintain the site-specific Emergency Response Plan.
• Review and process subcontractor safety documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Process job specific and owner safety permits.
• Maintain and audit inspection logs, JHAs, and permits.
• Coordinate and review traffic control plans for job-specific requirements.
• Promote and reinforce the company’s safety culture.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  with the ability to quickly learn new software as needed.
