Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Lead Project Engineer for the Phoenix, AZ area to drive APU development projects on a hybrid schedule. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, set scope and deliverables, and manage timelines, budgets, and resources. This role emphasizes operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across engineering initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in project engineering or related roles.
  • Proven track record delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with risk management expertise.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage APU development projects from initiation to completion.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables with stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
  • Monitor progress and ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Ensure an airtight change management process.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and issues impacting delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project team members.
  • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders.

As an auxiliary power unit (APU) Lead Project Engineer here at Honeywell, you will coordinate and communicate with cross‑functional teams, foster collaboration and ensuring effective project coordination.

You will report directly to our Sr. Program Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the successful execution and delivery of engineering projects, driving operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage APU development projects from initiation to completion
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Coordinate and communicate with cross‑functional teams to ensure project success
  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Ensure an airtight change management process
  • Identify and mitigate risks and issues that may impact project delivery
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project team members
  • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders both internal and external
Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in project engineering or related roles
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering engineering projects on time and within budget
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with expertise in risk management and problem‑solving
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Passion for innovation and continuous learning
WE VALUE
  • Master’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • Gas turbine engine development, testing and analysis experience
  • Gas turbine engine aircraft installation development, testing and analysis experience
  • Model based system engineering experience including requirements management in DOORS Next
