Job summary

Victrex is seeking a Project Design Engineer to translate customer and business requirements into robust, manufacturable products and tooling for new introductions and improvements. You will own engineering deliverables through the lifecycle, balancing performance, quality, cost, throughput and delivery while working with customers, commercial, quality and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5–10 years of product design/engineering experience.
• Experience designing products and tooling in composites, polymer molding, injection or overmolding.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD and engineering drawing, with strong SolidWorks experience.
• Strong DFMA, tolerance management and engineering drawing standards.
• Experience with Moldflow, FEA or similar simulation tools.
• Experience taking designs from concept through validation into repeatable manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical partner to customers and stakeholders, translating requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Own design-engineering deliverables across the project lifecycle, meeting milestones and documenting outputs.
• Create detailed 3D models, product and tooling designs and drawings for composite/hybrid overmolded products using SolidWorks.
• Apply DFMA to ensure robust, scalable, cost-effective solutions aligned with manufacturing constraints.
• Support validation through concept development, prototyping, FEA/Moldflow, and testing.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing-ready engineering packages with controlled drawings and BOMs.
• Plan and support design verification/validation activities and manage risks.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, project teams to resolve issues and enable industrialisation.
• Consider commercial requirements like material usage, tooling investment, cycle time and lifecycle cost.
• Provide technical input to customer discussions, reviews and change control.
• Drive continuous improvement in design, tooling and processes.
• Share knowledge and contribute to engineering standards across the team.
