Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an Associate Director of Project Controls for a major pharmaceutical program in the United States. You will lead a project controls team and partner with clients to drive cost, schedule, and risk management for multi-billion dollar initiatives.

The role requires 12+ years in project controls, 2+ years leading teams in consulting, and proficiency with Primavera P6 or MS Project and advanced Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, or engineering.
  • Graduate degree in quantity surveying, cost management, construction management, or engineering is preferred.
  • 12+ years of relevant project controls experience.
  • 2+ years managing high performing project control teams in a consulting environment.
  • Knowledge of multiple contract delivery methods and their merits.
  • Proven track record in schedules, cost control, estimating and risk management.
  • Experience implementing and managing a project controls system for a major capital project.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute the high-level strategic direction of project controls including cost management, risk management, and schedule management.
  • Lead the project budget approval process.
  • Lead risk workshops to identify risks, likelihood/severity, mitigation actions and owners.
  • Take the lead for project controls deliverables requiring cross-functional input.
  • Motivate the team with clear direction and goals.
  • Assist with weekly team meetings to discuss progress and drive performance.
  • Lead development and production of regular reporting.
  • Prepare documentation for project gateway and approval processes.
  • Develop guidelines for project level chartering and partnering.
  • Review the Project Master Schedule for sequencing, milestones, and critical path.
  • Develop and approve the project budget, cashflow and financial plan.
  • Oversee risk management process for the project.
  • Develop the work plan for the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Review and submit project implementation plans for approval.
  • Manage Project Estimating and lifecycle costing, including contingencies.
  • Develop change management strategies and cost/schedule impact mitigation.
  • Develop controls to assure team performance against baselines.
  • Establish metrics for progress reporting and forecasting.
  • Develop cost reduction and diversity compliance guidance.
  • Review claims resolutions and recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve consensus.
  • Coordinate ongoing risk processes and Monte Carlo analyses.
  • Lead the Project Controls Team to deliver quality outputs.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role.
