Job summary

Amphenol CIT seeks a Product Design Engineer to collaborate with customers, Sales, Product Management, Engineering, and Supply Chain to design and cost wire and cable products for manufacturability. The role involves interpreting specifications, developing cost-effective designs, and leveraging production capabilities to maximize profitability.

At Level II, you will lead new product development projects, act as primary technical liaison, drive continuous improvement, and mentor design engineers

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or an Associate degree with 5+ years in wire and cable engineering.
• Experience with statistical inference, probability, and data analysis.
• Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience, preferably in wire and cable industry.
• Formal problem-solving and project management experience.
• Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI) and data analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer specifications and standards to create manufacturable, cost-effective designs.
• Provide design solutions for new opportunities and product enhancements.
• Develop design estimates and BOMs to maximize profitability.
• Lead cross-functional teams and mentor engineers and technicians.
• Review and maintain design procedures, costing standards, and project plans.
