Job description

Schedule: Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30 pm

Pay: $22-24 per hour based on experience

The Lead Process Technician ensures proper process conditions are established by manufacturing. They collaborate with Plant Process Engineers and the manufacturing team to address process deviations and inform engineers about changes in process conditions. As a key member of the manufacturing team, the Lead Process Technician assists in manufacturing trials, is responsible for initial troubleshooting, and helps with process set-ups. Additionally, this position coordinates area activities in the absence of the Supervisor or Shift Leads.

Essential Functions

• Works with the Shift/Production Supervisor and Shift Leads to prioritize team efforts and ensure quality and shipment goals are met.
• Provides manufacturing operations support and basic technical expertise.
• Helps ensure employees are trained in proper procedures regarding raw material consumption.
• Assists in printing packets and training employees as needed.
• Establishes and documents processing parameters to optimize productivity and ensure product quality according to customer specifications.
• Works with production employees on trials, first-time runs, and start-ups.
• Supports plant process engineers in their daily tasks.
• Assists the shift leadership team with safe work practices, housekeeping, and environmental compliance, reporting issues as necessary.
• Leads equipment changeovers with production.
• Participates in training new employees and re-training existing staff on processes and methods.
• Supports the company's vision, mission, and guiding principles.
• Follows all Environmental, Health, and Safety rules and guidelines during procedures.
• Provides coverage for Shift/Production Supervisor/Lead when absent.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in plastics or chemical industry, leadership, problem-solving, managing direct reports, and manufacturing processes such as colorant, mixing, extrusion, and blending.
• Forklift license required.
• Personal skills include manual dexterity, research, quantitative skills, reading comprehension, multitasking, and conflict resolution.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands

• Extended standing and sitting, talking, and listening.
• Ability to walk, use hands, and occasionally bend, stoop, climb ladders and stairs.
• May need to lift, push, or pull up to 55 pounds occasionally.
• Must communicate effectively in a loud environment and respond to safety alarms.
• Use of personal protective equipment required.
• Exposure to outside weather, extreme heat, humidity, dust, or fumes may occur.
