Job summary

County of Sonoma is seeking a Senior Probation Corrections Officer to lead Probation Corrections Officers, oversee daily juvenile facility operations, and support residents through counseling and behavioral interventions. The role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to work with youth from diverse backgrounds.

Compliance with background checks, medical and psychological evaluations, and BSCC requirements is expected.

Qualifications

• One year full-time experience in a position equivalent or closely related to Probation Corrections Officer II with the County of Sonoma.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States; no felony conviction.
• Passing BSCC selection written exam or equivalent prior to appointment.
• Willing to undergo background investigation, including a psychological evaluation, criminal history check, medical examination, and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate cognitive behavioral interventions, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices
• Provide intensive casework and develop short-term case plans for residents
• Support staff with program facilitation, curriculum development, and addressing resident behavioral concerns
• Apply crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations
• Maintain case records and document resident behavior in justice system databases
