Job summary

Walgreens is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer I to drive strategic technology initiatives that shape the direction of the Technology operation. The role involves deploying, operating, scaling and tuning server systems, websites and app infrastructure with a strong emphasis on reliability and performance.

You will lead complex projects, mentor teammates and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to implement secure, compliant solutions that meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of experience in a technical role.
• Experience in technology infrastructure (infrastructure, systems, databases or similar).
• Experience mentoring team members and leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Ability to travel up to 10% (within state and out of state).

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes strategic activities impacting the technology work function.
• Leads design and implementation of major components focusing on reliability, performance, security and compliance.
• Analyzes technical requirements to ensure availability, latency, scalability and efficiency.
• Builds tools and scripts to resolve problems and prevent errors; designs complex projects.
• Responds to highly complex service problems and conducts performance analysis and capacity planning.
