Job summary

Walgreens, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead layout, improvement, and deployment of key software platforms, shaping architecture and driving scalable, reliable systems. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required.
6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Experience with complex systems and algorithms.
Experience with technical project management.

Responsibilities

Plans, designs, develops and checks software for cloud-based or internet tools for strategic/high-risk undertakings.
Writes code defining specifications for new software packages and systems.
Leads in developing the technical vision and design specifications for assigned tasks.
Develops or leads the creation of technical/enterprise strategies and tools.
Owns development and rollout for large projects; champions processes and reduces complexity.
Uses technical knowledge in software design and system interrelationships.
Interacts with peers and management to share complex information on technologies and solutions.
May lead groups or projects.
