Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer to guide Shepherd's evolution, architecture, and engineering practices. You will drive platform capabilities for release orchestration, multi-region workflows, and deployment safety, partnering with SRE, security, compliance, and OCI service teams.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep distributed-systems expertise, API and persistence design, and a focus on reliability, observability, and developer productivity.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production cloud environments.
• Deep understanding of cloud platform architecture, APIs, resiliency and observability.
• Hands-on software engineering with Java, Python, Go, or TypeScript; strong debugging and production skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of Shepherd platform capabilities for release orchestration, deployment safety, rollback automation, dependency modeling, and operational workflows.
• Design and build highly available distributed systems across cloud-scale environments.
• Drive long-term platform architecture including APIs, service boundaries, persistence models, workflow execution, and observability.
• Partner with engineering, SRE, security, compliance, and OCI service teams on cross-organizational initiatives.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, production-ready code, and mentoring.
